Lauren
Lauren is the main contributor and inventor of Just Keep Purlin'. She currently knits hats, socks, mittens, and scarves, but hopes to one day afford enough yarn (and have enough patience) to knit a scarf. She is a currently a senior in high school and looks forward to attending a private four year college next fall to major in English. She doesn't know what this school may be yet, so don't ask.
Nicole
Nicole is Lauren's younger sister who also knits though not quite as vigorously. She enjoys movie parties with friends, reading, and listening to quality music in her spare time. Her favorite color is blue, and she is a sophomore in high school.
Our Goal
Just Keep Purlin' has several goals in mind:
- All of our patterns will be free and of good quality
- We want to provide modern, trendy knits
- Knitting advice will be given to those who ask (leave comments with questions!)
- Knitting supplies needed will be affordable for our projects
- Knitting supplies needed will be affordable for our projects
- The stories of our knitting journey will be shared here. We hope you will join us for the ride.
Our History
Lauren learned how to knit in July 2011 when some friends helped her obtain her first pair of needles (Green/Orange twist, Plastic, 14", US 8, Yarnology) and first skein of yarn (I Love This Yarn, Jazz Stripes, 251 yds). After five minutes in a coffee shop, Lauren could cast on and knit in garter stitch! Soon after, Lauren taught Nicole to knit.
Lauren lives by the motto 'a minute to learn, a lifetime to master' with knitting. Since first learning, Lauren inherited her great grandmother's needles and a small stash of yarn. Lauren watches YouTube videos to learn new tips and techniques as well as vigorously checking books out of the library for patterns.
If this blog were to go by another name, it would be called The Frugal Knitter.
